Fifth Sunday of Easter
John 14:1-12This beautiful passage of St. John’s gospel is actually from the Last Supper. But it is so fitting that we hear it now, after the Resurrection and before the Ascension. Jesus calms our fears, fears of losing Him, fears of being left alone. He says, do not be afraid.
I heard a commentary not long ago that said, “Do not be afraid,” is in the Bible 365 times. I thought, Wow, one for every day of the year. Jesus reassures us daily not to be afraid.
And today in the gospel he says, “Do not let your hearts be troubled.” He is going to prepare a place for us. He will not forget us. He isn’t abandoning us. He is leaving, and yet all the while, he is thinking of us, preparing for our coming.
Today, let us spend just a few minutes giving Thanks and Praise to God for His personal care of each and every one of us.
