Fifth Sunday of Easter

John 14:1-12

This beautiful passage of St. John’s gospel is actually from the Last Supper. But it is so fitting that we hear it now, after the Resurrection and before the Ascension. Jesus calms our fears, fears of losing Him, fears of being left alone. He says, do not be afraid.
I heard a commentary not long ago that said, “Do not be afraid,” is in the Bible 365 times. I thought, Wow, one for every day of the year. Jesus reassures us daily not to be afraid.
And today in the gospel he says, “Do not let your hearts be troubled.” He is going to prepare a place for us. He will not forget us. He isn’t abandoning us. He is leaving, and yet all the while, he is thinking of us, preparing for our coming.
Today, let us spend just a few minutes giving Thanks and Praise to God for His personal care of each and every one of us.

Mission

We could find no better way to describe the purpose of Daily Beatitude than the Prologue of the Catechism of the Catholic Church, Paragraph 1:

God, infinitely perfect and blessed in himself, in a plan of sheer goodness freely created man to make him share in his own blessed life. For this reason, at every time and in every place, God draws close to man. He calls man to seek him, to know him, to love him with all his strength. He calls together all men, scattered and divided by sin, into the unity of his family, the Church. To accomplish this, when the fullness of time had come, God sent his Son as Redeemer and Savior. In his Son and through him, he invites men to become, in the Holy Spirit, his adopted children and thus heirs of his blessed life.

We are called to live in beatitude. This contemplation is one designed to help us incorporate the beatitudes into our day. This work is not one of absolutes. It is just one way to incorporate the countenance of Jesus into each day. It is not the only way. View our rationale.
