Feast Day of St. Juan Diego
St. Juan Diego received the vision of Our Lady of Guadalupe in the 1500’s. Our Lady requested a church be built on the site and Juan was to take the request to the local bishop. Juan exhibited the gift of the Holy Spirit, courage, in taking this request to his bishop. His bishop was skeptical, and asked for proof. Our Lady provided the proof in the form of an image of herself on a cloak that was full of roses out of season. The authorities were convinced. The appearance of Our Lady resulted in six million people being converted in the next seven years. Juan lived the remainder of his life tending the church that was built and the pilgrims who flocked to visit the church.
St. Juan Diego, pray for us. Come Lord Jesus!
