Twenty Third Sunday in Ordinary Time
Mark 7:31-37In today’s gospel reading, Jesus cures a deaf mute. In the process of doing so, Jesus puts His fingers into the man’s ears and spat and touched the man’s tongue. Then Jesus looks to heaven and sighs, “Be opened.”
What do the actions of Jesus say to us in this reading? They show us the miraculous power of Jesus. They show us the impact of our actions in dealing with others. Touch is important. Personal contact is important. Prayer is important.
