Third Sunday of Lent
Luke 13:1-9In today’s gospel reading for the Third Sunday of Lent, we hear Jesus correct the listeners about judgement of others. He says just because people suffered death in different tragedies of his time, it did not mean they were worse sinners than those to whom He was speaking. The second part of the gospel speaks of a fig tree that did not bear fruit. The gardener was instructed to fertilize it for another year, give it another chance. This is an encouragemnt to us. Sometimes in our lives, we don’t “bear fruit.” The Mercy of God will not abandon us.
