In imitation of the Blessed Mother, may we take comfort in the Invisible Reality. There is no division between heaven and earth. All of heaven is available to us if we but ask.

Jesus was gentle with the woman caught in adultery. May we imitate His gentleness in dealing with others.

Today’s Reading

Blessed Are the Meek, for they shall inherit the earth

1 Samuel 16:1, 6-7, 10-13

Contemplate the meekness of Samuel in the passage that follows. May we imitate his meekness in perfect obedience to the Lord.
”The Lord said to Samuel: ‘Fill your horn with oil, and be on your way. I am sending you to Jesse of Bethlehem, for from among his sons I have decided on a king.’ As they came, he looked at Eliab and thought, ‘Surely the anointed is here before the Lord.’ But the Lord said to Samuel: ‘Do not judge from his appearance or from his lofty stature, because I have rejected him. God does not see as a mortal, who sees the appearance. The Lord looks into the heart.’ In the same way Jesse presented seven sons before Samuel, but Samuel said to Jesse, ‘The Lord has not chosen any one of these.’ Then Samuel asked Jesse, ‘Are these all the sons you have?’ Jesse replied, ‘There is still the youngest, but he is tending the sheep.’ Samuel said to Jesse, ‘Send for him; we will not sit down to eat until he arrives here.’ Jesse had the young man brought to them. He was ruddy, a youth with beautiful eyes, and good looking. The Lord said: ‘There—anoint him, for this is the one!’ Then Samuel, with the horn of oil in hand, anointed him in the midst of his brothers, and from that day on, the spirit of the Lord rushed upon David.

We could find no better way to describe the purpose of Daily Beatitude than the Prologue of the Catechism of the Catholic Church, Paragraph 1:

God, infinitely perfect and blessed in himself, in a plan of sheer goodness freely created man to make him share in his own blessed life. For this reason, at every time and in every place, God draws close to man. He calls man to seek him, to know him, to love him with all his strength. He calls together all men, scattered and divided by sin, into the unity of his family, the Church. To accomplish this, when the fullness of time had come, God sent his Son as Redeemer and Savior. In his Son and through him, he invites men to become, in the Holy Spirit, his adopted children and thus heirs of his blessed life.

We are called to live in beatitude. This contemplation is one designed to help us incorporate the beatitudes into our day. This work is not one of absolutes. It is just one way to incorporate the countenance of Jesus into each day. It is not the only way. View our rationale.
