Fifteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Luke 10:25-37Today’s gospel is the story of the Good Samaritan. How many people do you pass on the street that may need help? Maybe not many. But do you ever stop? Do you ever help?
If your answer is no, I am sure you have a reason. But is it valid?
Perhaps you are in a hurry. Possibly you feel unsafe. Think about the Good Samaritan. Did those thoughts cross his mind? Did he have anywhere else to be? Obviously yes, because he traveled on once he helped the man. Could the Samaritan have been injured in doing this good deed? Certainly. Things were not that different in the Lord’s day.
I am not suggesting that you throw all caution to the wind. I am saying, help more. Look at people. Put yourself in their shoes. Pray for them. Truly pray. And if possible, take the time, money and effort to help.
God bless you.
