Feast Day of St. Kateri Tekakwitha
St. Kateri Tekakwitha was such a huge figure of holiness. She persevered through much persecution. She was baptized when Christianity was not fully accepted. She refused to marry, an unheard of vow in the Indian community. She made a vow of virginity. This also cut her off from others in her clan, as the role of a woman was that of wife and mother. She devoted much of her time to prayer and fasting for the conversion of her people. Kateri is a model of holiness through suffering.
The next time we are sufering in any manner, let us turn to St. Kateri Tekakwitha and pray for the grace to continue.
St. Kateri Tekakwitha, pray for us.
