Thirty-Third Sunday in Ordinary Time
Luke 21:5-19As we approach the end of the Liturgical Year with the Feast of Christ the King next Sunday, the readings at mass focus on the end times. Jesus today speaks about signs that we may see. However He tells us these things not to frighten us but to give us hope. He tells us not to prepare what we are to say because: “for I myself shall give you a wisdom in speaking that all your adversaries will be powerless to resist or refute.”
He also addresses that we may be persecuted because we are His followers. And He says, “You will be hated by all because of my name, but not a hair on your head will be destroyed. By your perseverance you will secure your lives.”
May we draw hope and courage from these words. We need these virtues in our present day and age.
