Blessed Are They Who Mourn, For They Will Be Comforted
Mark 5: 1-20On Monday, we reflect on the beatitude "Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted." Our reading today is the healing of the Gerasene Demoniac. This demoniac must have mourned for his life. His life had to have been one of misery and loneliness. He lived his life in shackles and chains, continually hurting himself due to his possession. After Jesus heals him, Jesus tells him to go home to his family and announce all that the Lord has done for you. Here we witness the ripple effect of goodness beginning with Jesus. Mourning ends and comfort emanates to all in its path.
