Twenty-Ninth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Matthew 22:15-21As Jesus responds to the disciples of the Pharisees, with the Herodians, pay attention to His patience and kindness, despite their intent of entrapment. He calls them hypocriptes. But that is as far as the reprimand goes. He then answers their question in a way that defies rebuttal.
“Whose image is this and whose inscription?” They replied, “Caesar’s.” At that he said to them, “Then repay to Caesar what belongs to Caesar and to God what belongs to God.”
May we learn from Jesus to respond to our persecutors with honesty and no fear.
