Thirty Third Sunday in Ordinary Time

Mark 13:24-32

On this last Sunday of Ordinary Time, the Church speaks of the signs of the End Times. It tells us we should be aware of them and look for them.
Mark 13:24-27 says, "But in those days after that tribulation/ the sun will be darkened,/ and the moon will not give its light,/ and the stars will be falling from the sky,/ and the powers in the heavens will be shaken./ And then they will see ‘the Son of Man coming in the clouds’ with great power and glory, and then he will send out the angels and gather [his] elect from the four winds, from the end of the earth to the end of the sky."
Be Aware. Let these words not frighten us but make us vigilant.

We could find no better way to describe the purpose of Daily Beatitude than the Prologue of the Catechism of the Catholic Church, Paragraph 1:

God, infinitely perfect and blessed in himself, in a plan of sheer goodness freely created man to make him share in his own blessed life. For this reason, at every time and in every place, God draws close to man. He calls man to seek him, to know him, to love him with all his strength. He calls together all men, scattered and divided by sin, into the unity of his family, the Church. To accomplish this, when the fullness of time had come, God sent his Son as Redeemer and Savior. In his Son and through him, he invites men to become, in the Holy Spirit, his adopted children and thus heirs of his blessed life.

We are called to live in beatitude. This contemplation is one designed to help us incorporate the beatitudes into our day. This work is not one of absolutes. It is just one way to incorporate the countenance of Jesus into each day. It is not the only way. View our rationale.
