Fifteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Luke 10:25-37Today's gospel is the parable of the Good Samaritan. If you take some time and truly put yourself into the story, who would you be? Would you stop and help someone who was beaten and bleeding? Would you pass by on the other side of the road?
Prior to the parable the man asks Jesus how to gain eternal life, and Jesus returns the question to him. "What is written in the law? How do you read it?"
The man responds, "You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your being, with all your strength, and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself."
Here Jesus calls us to love without counting the cost. It is a great challenge.
