Blessed Are They Who Mourn
For they will be comfortedIn today's first reading, 2 Samuel 15:13-14, 30; 16:5-13, we hear the story of David being hunted down by his son Absalom. The humility of David is evident in the story. David's soldier wants to destroy the man who is cuarsing David. But David forbids him to harm him. David says to his soldier, "If my own son, who came forth from my loins, is seeking my life, how much more might this Benjaminite do so! Let him alone and let him curse, for the Lord has told him to. Perhaps the Lord will look upon my affliction and repay me with good for the curses he is uttering this day."
Let us ask David to pray for us today to recognize our need for humility and recognition of our own sins, rather than looking at the faults of others.
