Blessed Are the Meek
For they shall inherit the earthDavid's story continues today with the conclusion of Absalom's pursuit of David.
2 Sm 18:9-10, 14b, 24-25a, 30—19:3
As Absalom comes after David, his hair is caught in a tree and he hangs from the tree after his horse takes leave. At this a soldier comes and thrusts a lance into Absalom. Instead of David celebrating the victory over his pursuer, David grieves at the death of his son. And all of his army grieves as well. The meekness of David is evident. Yesterday we witnessed his humility and today, his meekness.
When we have times of weakness and sorrow, may we lean on the Lord and allow Him to grow virtue in us.
